how to become an educator

(requirements for all students registering after September 21st, 2020)

1. Search through our list of educators to sign up for Level 1, 2, and 3 Certification Courses.

2. At the end of Level 2 and 3 courses, you must submit close up and high-res photos (to help@leafgel.com) of your work which you have learned from the technique section of the syllabus

   • Color Gradation

   • Glitter Gradation

   • Classic French

   • Peacock

   • Border & Glitter Lines

   • Marble

   • Tie-Dye

   • Small Flower Pattern

   • Variety French

   • Extension - Tip Overlay

   • Extension - Form Sculpture

   • *Freestyle - Your original freestyle nail designs (must provide a list of Leafgel products used)

   • **Keys to photo submission:  
     To ensure the quality and clarity of your photos, please take each photo with a plain background (white/black) under bright cool lightings.  
     You will need to take a total of four photos per nail design up close and in the following positions: 

     • Top/Overhead View of the entire nail

     • Side View - Right

     • Side View - Left

     • Frontal View (free edge/c-curve

3. Upon completing the ALL three levels of courses, you are also required to enroll and participate in a minimum of four Leafgel on-demand virtual or Live art classes and submit close up and high-res photos of your recreations of the designs from each class to help@leafgel.com

4. Please send pictures of your Level 1, 2 and 3 certificates to help@leafgel.com before scheduling your Level 4 exam.

5. When you are ready to proceed to Level 4 (Written Exam) and Level 5 (Practical Exam), please visit (Leafgel.com/exam) to book for an exam date. Both exams will be performed virtually through a Zoom meeting session.  *It is highly recommended to take both exams on separate days. **
   Online booking will be disabled until further notice. Please join us in person during our in-person Educator seminars. 

6. You are also required to sign up and attend our “New Educator Orientation Program” which you will have the option to take after passing the written exam and/or passing both exams.

7. For Level 4 - you must pass the written exam with a score of 80% or higher. 

8. For Level 5 - you must pass the practical exam with a score of 80% or higher, as well as to submit close up and high-res photos of each nail that you have worked on. 

9. Upon passing both exams, you must provide a full bio, a profile picture, and your plans as a Certified Leafgel Premium Educator. *Two paragraphs minimum

Requirements for retaking exams:

• Written Exam  

  • Fee:  USD$50.00

  • Must wait at least 2 weeks before scheduling a retake

• Practical Exam

  • Fee: USD$100.00

  • Must wait at least 4 weeks before scheduling a retake

Online Educator Exam Instructions

Level 4 - Written Exam (Duration 1 hour)

Equipment Requirement:

• Device 1:   Smartphone

• Device 2:  Tablet / Laptop

• A tabletop phone mount and/or tripod

Prior to starting the exam, you will need to set up “Device 1” on a phone mount and/or tripod as it will be easier to adjust the camera angle when needed. You will also need to download and install the ZOOM app, as this device will be used as the camera allowing our examiner to have a clear view of the screen of “Device 2” as well as part of your face when the exam takes place.

Once you’re ready with the setup, our examiner will then send you a unique temporary link to the exam which is generated only during the time of the exam.  The URLs will become invalid upon submitting your answers.  

The 50 minutes timer will begin at the moment when you open the link to access the exam.  You will be taking the written exam on your tablet or laptop.  The entire session will be recorded for review purposes.  In order to avoid any distractions, our examiner will turn off her side of the video but will stay behind the screen the whole time to assist you whenever any questions arise. 

The written exam consists of multiple-choice questions and several short answer/essay questions.  However, all questions are generated randomly during each time.  *It is NOT an open book exam.  Once you have submitted your answers, you will receive the result within 24 hours.


 

Level 5 - Practical Exam (Duration 2 hours)

Equipment Requirement: 

• Device 1:  Smartphone 

• Device 2:  Table / Laptop

• A tabletop phone mount and/or tripod

• Desk Lamp

Tools Needed: 

• Seminar Kit

• Manicure Bowl with lukewarm water

• Towel

• Lint-Free Wipes

• Cuticle Pusher

• Cuticle Nipper

• Dust Brush

• Emery Board

• Nail File (180)

• Sponge Buffer (100/180)

• Nail Cleanser

• Cuticle Remover

• LED Curing Lamp

You will be performing on a live model (adult family members are OK).  Your model will need to have healthy bare nails prior to the exam.  However, please DO NOT pre-prep your model’s nails prior, as it would cost overfiling during the first part of the exam which can lead to unnecessary damage to your model’s nails.  The total time of the practical exam is 2 hours. 

*The entire session will be recorded for review purposes.  In order to avoid any distractions, our examiner will turn off her side of the video but will stay behind the screen the whole time to assist you whenever any questions arise.

Please make sure both of your devices are fully charged.  To set up for the exam, you will be using “Device 1” as the camera through the ZOOM app, and adjust the phone mount to provide an overhead viewing angle.  You can set up the “Device 2” on the side, so you will be able to communicate with our examiner during the process.  Also, to use it as a backup in case your smartphone suddenly loses connection. 
 

Upon completing the exam, you are required to take closeup and high-res photos of each nail that you’ve worked on and submit them to help@gmail.com.

New Educators Orientation Program:

• Mandatory participation prior to launching any classes

• Duration 90-120 minutes

Purpose:
Provides the new educator with concise information and guidance to achieve personal goals; To
make them more comfortable in teaching any in-person and/or virtual classes; Encourages
confidence in representing Leafgel Premium with consummate skills and professionalism.
